16-year-old defeats Steven Hughes in final to claim silverware
Poplar’s Adam Stacey was celebrating recently after winning his second Plate trophy of the season on the Cuestars South of England under-21 tour.
The 16-year-old defeated Nat Kidner in the preliminary round before getting past Chloe White in the semi-final.
Stacey faced Steven Hughes in the final and came out on top to get his hands on some silverware.
The local resident had failed to qualify from a tough round-robin group in the gold section of the event, which is sponsored by Attic Life at Salisbury Snooker Club.
Stacey beat Hughes 2-1 in that competition, but lost 2-0 to English under-18 champ Mark Lloyd and 2-0 to Connor Benzey, who finished the ten-leg series ranked third.
But the teen, who is based at Legends Snooker Club, Leytonstone, managed to follow this competition up by overcoming Hughes in the final of the competition for non-qualifiers.
The top-16 players on each tour will be invited to the championship play-off on finals day on Sunday May 14, at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
World number 34 Mark Davis will present the trophies and play exhibition frames against all the champions.
