London Raiders are already looking forward to their next game at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre after picking up two victories this week.

The club played their first match at the new rink on Saturday, beating Cardiff Fire 5-2, and claimed a penalty shoot-out success over Swindon Wildcats on Wednesday.

But Raiders will now have to wait a week for another match at their new home as they only have one game this weekend away to strugglers Invicta Dynamos on Saturday.

Coach Sean Easton revealed it is great to be in their new home rink and they want to make it a fortress from now until the end of the season.

“I hope we can make it a fortress, we’ve only got three more home games in the league, so that would be a nice six points if we can nick some points off Basingstoke, Milton Keynes and Peterborough,” he said.

“It’s nice to have a home, it’s nice not to have a car full of kit all the time and just the little luxuries we have within our room, it’s a god-send.”

Despite a great start to life in Romford, Easton and his men will now have to turn their attentions to an away game against the Dynamos, which the coach has labelled a must-win match at Planet Ice Gillingham (6pm).

“That’s a must-win. Our objectives was to make sure we’re beating everyone in the old NIHL, and so far so good,” the 31-year-old said. “We’re winning our series against them and it’s a must-win.”

The Raiders have played against the Kent-based outfit seven times so far this season – four in the cup and three in the league – winning all seven contests and will be hoping to complete the series between the two sides with an unbeaten record.

Easton admits they will not be taking their opponents lightly, despite the up-and-down season they have endured so far this campaign.

“Definitely not, they’ve still got young guys that are hungry and want to improve, and play in this league so they have a point to prove if they want to stay here,” he said.

Raiders will have Sunday night off and then not play again until Sunday, February 18, when they welcome league leaders Basingstoke Bison to the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Western Road. Face-off will be at 5.30pm.
