Repton maintained their traditional dominance of the London Youth CYP championships at York Hall on Saturday as the club sent nine boxers through to the national quarter-finals.

The Bethnal Green club's Class-A winners included Chris Ali and Ben Hall, who both overcame opponents from Fairbairn House.

Ali took the Class-A Under-48kg trophy after outscoring Andy Patel while Hall slammed his way to the title with a stoppage success over Chris Lawrence in the second round of his Under-57kg encounter.

Also boxing their way to London titles were Brett Beadon, Sam McNess and Tom Baker.

In a high-standard Class-B Under-57kg final contest, Beadon rose to the occasion to clinch a points verdict over Chris Mbwakongo, from Lynn, and lift the London crown.

Nemesis youngster Danny Oshijo tested Sam McNess in a Class-B Under-63kg encounter, but the Repton boxer found the target with impressive attacks to make sure of the decision.

In the Class-C Under-69kg category, Eltham's Billy Cayzer looked to record an upset but found Repton's in-form Tom Baker too talented as the Bethnal Green club entry boxed his way to the points decision.

With Mo Raza, Jimmy Smith and Andrew Doe also receving walkover wins, Repton will be well represented at the national quarter-finals in Aldershot this weekend.

Meanwhile, Repton prospects Romario Wallace and Perry Lovejoy will continue their own title bids at the National Schoolboy Championship finals at Dagenham's Goresbrook Leisure Centre on March 7.

Wallace booked a place in the finals after stamping his class from the opening bell against high-quality rival Frank Smith, from Hailsham, in the Class Three Under-52kg clash.

Lovejoy had to come from behind to win his Class Three Under-42kg duel with St Mary's rival Bernie Saunders, who took a close opening round.

The Repton boxer turned the tables in the second session to take the lead, which he extended in the final round to earn a deserved points verdict.

Simon Baker and Tom Buckley were walkover winners for Repton and will also feature in finals in Dagenham.
