Last weekend’s game at Invicta showed how much Ross Wilkinson is a great team-mate – he was a hero when we needed him on Sunday.
I’m not saying he didn’t enjoy the attention from both teams fans, but it shows what he will do for the team, which is great to have in a player.
After Sunday I thought I could just forget about my shot that hit the post and trickled across the line, but that doesn’t happen I guess.
It’s one of the first things on Invicta’s YouTube, as if the miss wasn’t bad enough when we were in a scoreless game.
This week I’ve been lucky enough to be on the ice most nights, finally putting my level one coaching certificate to good use by twice helping out at Lee Valley.
Thursday night saw a lot of power play practice after a lot of wasted chances so far this season. Unfortunately Perry couldn’t handle my annoying presence on the ice while he was penalty killing.
Before AJ gets mad the highlight of training was when he swished the finished stick tape into the bin from a long ways away.
Hopefully he can keep finishing like that throughout the big weekend and only our second double header so far, against Wightlink and the team I can’t thank enough for last season MK Thunder.
Wightlink are always a tough opponent, but like us they have dropped a few surprise results so far this season, so hopefully we can make it another.
When I saw their summer signings I thought they’d be a team challenging this season and even though they’ve had a slow start I still think they’ll be up there, so it will be a big game.
As for Sunday’s game I can’t wait to go to MK’s refurbished rink as the pictures I’ve seen look really nice.
It’s a big ice which I’m looking forward to as I enjoy getting my legs going on big rinks. It’s also always fun playing against former team-mates so it will be a fun game to play in.
This fixture and chance to play at this rink might not have happened if it weren’t for Dave Fairhurst keeping the team and junior set-up going in Milton Keynes with the temporary rink last year.
The small rink also gave me the ice time I needed last season which I highly appreciate Milton Keynes for.
