SCOTT Turner from Finns Martial Arts Centre, Poplar, won a gold in the Judo competition at the London Youth Games.

It was the third year in succession that the 17-year-old has brought home gold from the Youth Games and in an outstanding weekend for the teenager, he also obtained his senior black belt at a grading held in Rainham, Essex.

That will enable Scott to assist his dad Fred, the senior instructor, with the coaching at the Stainsby Road club, passing on his expertise to the club membership, which has members from five years old to 16.

Scot, won his gold in the over 61 kilo class.
