BETHNAL Green Sharks were narrowly beaten into second place by host club Clissold SC, Stoke Newington, in the fourth gala in the London Mini League, held at Clissold Pool.

The results sees the Sharks lying in second place behind leaders Leyton SC in the overall standings. There are still two galas left in the League in which Sharks can overtake their Waltham Forest rivals.

Sharks finished just three points behind the winning Hackney club, amassing 118 points to 121. Dagenham SC came in third on 109 points, with South London's Ham and Eltham swimming clubs completing the line-up.

The Tower Hamlets club had seven first place winners. Ferdous Debissa was first home in the one length backstroke in the girls 11 and under section, Zahra Attibii won the one length breaststroke and Hannah Tune, the one length butterfly in the same age group.

In the girls 12 and under category, Courtney Bilbrough won both the two lengths backstroke and freestyle races, while Loula Paizi, was victor in the girls under 13 breaststroke.

Samuel Collins was winner of the two lengths boys under 13 and under race, while Sunny Mammone won the two lengths backstroke winner.

Bethnal Green Sharks also won the mixed 8x1 length freestyle relay with a team containing Hannah Tune, Eloise Oliver, Nikita Rours, Esme Cudmore, Edward Turner, Noah Ffinch-Shah, Sunny Mammone and Samuel Collins.
