BETHNAL Green Sharks Swimming Club launched a recruitment drive at the recent Tower Hamlets Primary Schools gala, in which they invited competitors to free lessons for four weeks.

The Sharks invited all finalists to enjoy a month's free tuition plus an end-of-course gala with a view to joining the club if the experience had been enjoyable. As a result, Sharks have enlisted four new members and another three whose membership is pending. With the help of Canary Wharf PLC, Sharks also put on a gala and supplied medals to the winners, thanks to their sponsors.

The club liaison officer offered the same invitation to Old Ford Primary School, with 30 children turning up at Mile End Leisure Centre for a small pool lesson. All participants received a certificate.
