Poplar’s Mason Williams produced a solid set of results in week one of the British Motorcycle Racing Team Respro MRO 600.

The local resident impressed at Brands Hatch and after several races, was placed fourth in the table going into round two at the end of the month.

Conditions changed throughout the weekend, which made it difficult for all racers at the Kent venue.

Williams set a new personal best of 49.7 seconds on Saturday in sunny and dry conditions and finished both races in fourth.

But the following day brought heavy rain and it provided testing conditions for the Poplar rider at Brands Hatch.

Race one on the Sunday saw a lot of riders fall, but Williams managed to remain calm and come home in fourth.

After debating not competing in the final race of the weekend, Williams decided to and it proved to be the right choice.

The talented rider managed to claim an excellent third-place podium finish to ensure he sits fourth in the overall standings after round one.

Next up for Williams is a trip to Silverstone for April 28, he said: “As I’ve never been to Silverstone on the 600 I know it will be another weekend of finding a good set-up for the race but I am very confident I can do it and fight again for the wins.”
