Motoden Motorcycles are backing Cox
Stepney’s Sam Cox received a boost ahead of the new season, with a generous sponsorship deal from George Dennison, owner of Motoden Motorcycles in Hackney.
The 24-year-old Cox has been supplied with a new Honda Zoomer Paddock motorcycle, which is seen as an essential item to racing team.
He said: “A reliable paddock scooter is vital to the efficiency and logistics of our race team. With this contribution Motoden have really helped us with our paddock needs.
“We will use it to transport equipment, rider and grid staff at key times throughout our weekend of racing. I want to thank George and Motoden for their timely generosity.”
Motoden’s support will help Cox move forward in 2015, after his fourth place finish in the Triumph Triple Challenge last year.
Cox will now compete in the Premier 600 class of the Supersport EVO series and added: “I’m going to have to really raise my game this year if my results are going to feature in the top 10 of the Supersport EVO Class.
“We are preparing to enter a really high class grid of competition so will have to get everything right just to survive our first year.
“Our Triumph Daytona is undergoing significant re-engineering to boost its power level and we’re investing in better suspension and electronics.
“We are attracting interest from followers, supporters and possible sponsors to make this happen and our new website shows what we are attempting to achieve.”
Dennison has followed Cox’s career in recent years and said: “Sam is a determined young man who has pushed himself hard to stay competitive in a very challenging sport.
“Motoden and I are very pleased to be able to contribute to the needs of his team at this time. We wish him the best of luck in 2015 and will be following his results with interest.”
Cox is planning to begin pre-season testing in March and dad Graham added: “It’s easily underestimated what it takes to prepare for a British Superbike Championship season.
“Since the end of last season in October we have been working hard every week to find new sponsors, develop the bike and equipment and ensure our planning leads to a successful start on the grid in April at Donington circuit.
“This year is even more problematic as it is more expensive to enter the Supersport EVO Class and be successful. Even though Sam is a talented rider, we have to make up the gap between us and better resourced teams with more effort and creative ideas to ensure competitiveness. We can’t wait to get racing!”
