Havering Sixth Form picked up a 12-run victory over Bsix College and Waltham Forest’s Ahsan Tanveer dominated Barking and Dagenham with bat and ball in Week 10 of the Essex County Board FE “Chance to Shine” tournament at the UEL SportsDock.

Havering were solid right from the start against Bsix as Rahib Hoque quickly made his way to 20 from 11 balls before he was stumped.

His opening partner Jake Southam did not light up the scoreboard, but did score a handy 10 off 13 while Kudiwa Kamudyariwa added 11 to keep Havering moving along before he was then dismissed LBW to Wafi Hikmat.

Bsix’s Rakib Ullah took two late wickets, dismissing Tyler Bunn after his excellent knock of 15 from nine, and sending George Maydell back to the pavilion for just three.

And Havering lost their final wicket on the last ball of their 10 overs and were 102 all out.

Hassan Shah was the star of the run chase for Bsix, but his hurricane innings of 29 came too late for his side.

Openers Mukhtiar Jan (8) and Hikmat (12) got Bsix off to a decent start, but the middle order collapsed.

Rakib Ullah scored just seven off of 11 deliveries before he was stumped by Hoque off the bowling of Maydell.

Umeed Ullah went for a first-ball duck as Southam collected his wicket with the some fielding help from Bunn.

Shah then came in and smashed his way to 29 from just 16 balls. But Bunn ran out Jahan Zeb for five on the penultimate ball of the ninth over and Bsix were down to their final wicket.

Kamudyariwa sealed the win for Havering, running out Shah to preserve the 12-run win.

In the other game Waltham Forest picked up a tight win over Barking and Dagenham in a match dominated by Ahsan Tanveer.

Tanveer took two catches and collected two wickets in Barking and Dagenham’s innings.

Kamran Ali (10) and Nasir Mohammed (12) were both caught out by Tanveer, but it was his bowling later in the innings that dished Barking and Dagenham in the final overs.

Tanveer dismissed both Wali Khan and Zamir Stinkzai for first-ball ducks to start the eighth over, leaving Barking and Dagenham at 78-5.

Opener Faizan Muhammad was the last man to fall after making 27 runs from 26 balls. His tally brought Barking and Dagenham’s score to 88 all out after 8.4 overs.

Tanveer continued his brilliance with the bat as opener, striking an unbeaten 25 runs. Hamza Ghulam went cheaply for six, but Sadiq Kamal came in and bashed a quick 25 of his own.

Saad Rashid ran out Rizwan Khan for duck, but Faizan Baig and Imran Ahmad stayed in to see out the run chase.

Baig scorched 13 runs at a strike rate of 325, whilst Ahmad knocked a rapid nine runs to lead Waltham Forest over the line with seven balls to spare.
