Squad impresses in the pool with consistent results
Tower Hamlets defended their Balfour Beatty London Youth Games ParaGames mini swimming title in style, as they claimed medals in all but two of the races they competed in.
Consistent top-three finishes saw them come away with two golds, three silvers and two bronze medals, ahead of Croydon who finished second overall, with Havering in third.
And team manager Jackie Ferris, who was confident of success going into the event, claimed their back-to-back titles were a product of all the hours of training put in by the swimmers.
“Our kids always seem to do well, it’s the second year we’ve come first so we’re doing really well and we’re going to come back even stronger next year,” she said.
“We had a good chance because our kids work really hard coming along to our classes that we run, so they train hard, have done really well and all did themselves proud.”
Proving to be the team to beat in ParaGames swimming yet again, Ferris is confident of further success next year having seen her squad race brilliantly, especially those new to the line-up.
“We’ve got Sahib who was new to our team this year and did really well, but Hattie came away with six medals so she’s done brilliant,” she added.
“There’s more pressure for next year, but third time lucky, we’ll have it.”
