Veras Academy youngster Harry Elves won two gold medals and a silver at the second international para karate championships in the Ukraine.

Competing in the learning difficulties and Autistic spectrum disorder categories, Elves was one of over 60 athletes from India, Belgium, England, Canada, Hungry, Ukraine and Russia taking part in categories suited to their needs.

He won gold in kata in the Autistic spectrum disorder category, after in a great performance, and added another in inclusive kumite after a series of three set attacks and three set blocks.

Elves also took part in the para pairs kata, an open category which allows para athletes to team up with their coaches and compete in synchronised forms.

Teaming up with his mum and coach on the day Donna Blake he claimed silver, just missing another gold and has been given an I Karate Global licence, which allows him to compete in competitions around the world and an invitation to compete in the Para Karate World Cup in Dublin next spring.
