Veras Academy youngsters finished second overall at the Coupe Internationale de Kayl in Luxembourg.

The seven-year-old Maggie Gentili-Walsh won bronze in kata and kumite on day one to start things off.

And Luca Veras, 11, won gold in combat and bronze in form, while Jack Gentili-Walsh took silver in kumite, Nevaeh Thomas-Birch won gold in kata and bronze in combat and Keziah Daily-Brown took gold in combat.

There was a combat gold and bronze in form for Liam Veras, as fellow 13-year-old Bruno Reis won combat silver.

The second day saw LuLu Brown, 14, win kumite gold as Matas Staponas, Jaydon Sullivan and Richard Reinhaus all took bronze.

Sullivan added silver in the under-21 category and delighted academy sensei Raphael Veras said: “This is what the squad have been training for. Each of them put in the time and effort to perfect their skills.

“I’m incredibly proud. They showed what they’re capable of and did it with impeccable sportsmanship.”
