Movie icon Robert Redford will share favourite musical moments from his long-running career at the 02 next month.

The Oscar winning actor turned director is bringing his Sundance festival, promoting independent films, to London for the first time.

He will be appearing on stage with Grammy veteran and soundtrack producer T Bone Burnett as they kick-off the four-day Sundance London music and film festival on April 26.

The evening with Redford and Burnett discussing the relationship between film and music will be moderated by author and screenwriter Nick Hornby.

Robert Redford, founder and president of the Sundance Institute, said: “The depth of T Bone’s experience and accomplishments in the worlds of both film and music set the stage for the Sundance London program and the celebration of music and film that’s to come.

“His ability to deepen the experience of watching a film through the addition of music has seen him produce and curate some of cinema’s most notable and commercially successful soundtracks.”

Redford and Burnett will use film clips from some of the many movies they’ve worked on where music made a vital contribution. They will also discuss some of their favourite musical moments from other great films that have influenced their work. The evening will be capped off by a special musical guest.

Redford has won two Oscars, one in 1981 for directing Ordinary People, and one for Lifetime Achievement in 2002.

Burnett has won awards for soundtracks for movies including Crazy Heart, Winter’s Bone and O Brother Where Art Thou?

Sundance London will feature the UK premieres of films fresh from the 2012 Sundance Film Festival which takes place annually in Park City, Utah.

Daily live music performances, discussions, panels and other public events will accompany the film festival.
