ARCOLA Theatre's Adventures In Movement festival reaches its climax this weekend with a heady mix of innovative dance and physical theatre.
Tonight's main offering is Mike Levanzin's God Bless the Child, An Evening With Billie Holiday. The one woman show, performed by Katrina Beckford with piano accompaniment from jazz pianist Mike Conliffe, takes the audience on an intimate and personal journey from Billie's misspent youth through to the lavish jazz clubs of 1930s Harlem.
Dancer and choreographer Hagit Yakira brings her duet Oh Baby to audiences tomorrow, revealing an energetic and playful depiction of fiction and reality, while Rick Nodine uses choreography to manipulate intense physical states in Come To Mamma on tonight (Saturday).
The need to break through is the theme of Solo in Purgatorio, showing on today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). Nico Monaco's piece combines elements of hip-hop and boxing as an expression of freedom.
