HALF of surreal 90's comedy duo Lee and Herring previews his Edinburgh show in the Hackney Empire's Studio Theatre next week, ahead of next month's Fringe festival.

Richard Herring (pictured) performs his new stand-up act The Headmaster's Son at the Mare Street venue on Wednesday (July 23).

Herring explores the only thing worse than being a podgy, swotty, virgin schoolboy... having your dad as the headmaster.

The star of Fist of Fun and This Morning With Richard, Not Judy relives childhood embarrassments, first love and belching during the minute's silence in church in the last of the Hackney Empire's Edinburgh previews, which also features a stand-up set from Danielle Ward.

Spitalfields' Water Poet pub is also hosting its own round of Edinburgh previews with Paul Tonkinson and Rhod Gilbert tonight (Thurs), and Trevor Lock and Patrick Monahan next Thursday (July 24).

Tickets for Richard Herring and Danielle Ward, 8pm at the Hackney Empire in Mare Street, are £10 from 020-8985 2424, or online at:
