The Nunnery Gallery artists’ studios in the Bow Road has scooped £320,000 from the Arts Council.

The cash is for improvements, but Bow Arts which runs the gallery for emerging artists in Tower Hamlets is now looking for an additional £120,000 to expand its programme to the neighbouring Newham.

“This funding is a great vote of confidence in the arts being central to the regeneration of east London,” said their chief executive Marcel Baettig. “This will go a long way to secure our cultural services to artists and residents.”

The Nunnery has been running the second part of the Madge Gill’s retrospective exhibition alongside new work by Paul Johnson, which end today (Thurs).
