East End gala night for the street kids of Dhaka
A SATURDAY night gala is being staged in London’s East End to raise cash for orphans and street kids in Bangladesh. Organisers are holding the Restless Beings’ shindig at Bethnal Green’s York Hall at �12 a throw for a three-course Indian meal and a night’s entertainment
A SATURDAY night gala is being staged in London's East End to raise cash for orphans and street kids in Bangladesh.
Organisers are holding the 'Restless Beings' shindig at Bethnal Green's York Hall at �12 a throw for a three-course Indian meal and a night's entertainment.
Acts lined up include hip-hop artist Low Key, contemporary Asian folk singers Suzana and Khansar, alternative pop from Betty Steeles, reggae and dub from Aruba Red and soul from the Bathroom Girl.
The campaign has already made �10,000 in its first 12 months to convert an old building into a centre and home for the street children of Dhaka, providing food, clothing, medical care, counselling, education and recreation.

The centre will become a 'protective hub' for children exposed to drugs, prostitution, trafficking, abuse, homelessness and hunger.
