FOR a rare chance to see Choice FM DJ "Rollo" appearing as himself, Wayne Rollins, and ask him any question you like, get down to the Hackney Empire next Saturday.

Wayne is perhaps better known for dressing his drag act, flamboyant man-hungry dancehall queen, "Dibbi."

But in An Audience With Rollo, Wayne will not be able to hide behind her skirt.

"This show is about highlighting the funny side of Wayne Rollins, and "Dibbi" may come through vocally but not visually," said Wayne.

"I am very nervous. I like comedic performances instead of stand-up and this is going to be me strip naked."

Reflecting on the questions people from the audience may ask him, 48 year old Wayne said "Some nosey people may ask me a very deep and personal question and I don't know what it will be yet.

"They may ask me if I wear a thong underneath the dress. They may ask me if I'm gay." He says he isn't.

His ambition is to break into TV which he thinks is proving difficult because there are not many black comedians on TV, and his cousin and manager, Richard Nyelia, thought more people would take him seriously once he had appeared in his own one man show.

Wayne can currently be heard weekday afternoons on RnB radio station Choice FM where he hosts the Wayne Rollins Show between 1pm to 4pm, the station's most popular show.

An Audience With Rollo shows at the Hackney Empire on September 5 at 8.30pm.

Guests on the night come include RnB singer Omar and comedian Glenda Jaxson.

Tickets are priced 20 on the door or 15 in advance. Call 020 8985 2424 or contact boxoffice@hackneyempire.co.uk
