PSYCHADELIC rockers Flaming Lips bring the Lovebox festival to a climax in Victoria Park this weekend, writes Eleanor Robinson.

Wayne Coyne and his wacky band are headlining the main stage on Sunday night (July 20), hopefully dressed up in their trademark outlandish outfits.

The Big beat combo behind the two-day event, Groove Armada, are promising to play a blistering set on Saturday, packed with crowd pleasers like I See You Baby and Superstylin'.

Electro-pop princess Alison Goldfrapp brings her new folk-inspired songs from Goldfrapp's latest album Seventh Tree, as will Eighties synth legends Human League.

World music fans are in for a treat with Latin American sensation Manu Chao, whose surreal samples and street punk sloganising has led Robbie Williams to cover one of his tracks.

Drum and bass pioneer Roni Size is on the bill. So, too, is acoustic guitar hero Jack Penate.

There's a chance to see a wide variety of bands on the brink of breaking into the Big Time.

These include Young Knives, The Go! Team, Lightspeed Champion and Ladhawke.

But old favourites Dandy Warhols and one of the godfathers of house music Frankie Knuckles are also performing.

There's lots going on away from the main stages, including a massive fruit fight involving teams of 50 people kitted out in boiler suits, hurling as much pulped fruit at each other as they can.

Other non-musical attractions include Europe's largest vert skate ramp, the festival's very own art fair and a three-storey Brooklyn film set.

Kids under 12 go free, but all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets: £38.50 for a day, £65 Saturday/Sunday, bookable online at:
