Five of London's finest cocktail bars have made the World's 50 Best Bars 2022 list.

Showcasing the best venues and bartending talent around, the annual celebration and countdown of some of the world's finest establishments was held in Barcelona - a first in the list's 13 year history - on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

Ranked by a global network 650 drinks experts, Shoreditch hot spot TayΔ“r + Elementary came in at number two behind Paradiso Barcelona in the top spot.

In eighth position, the opulent Connaught Bar in Mayfair was next in line to represent the capital, while Bethnal Green's Satan's Whiskers made the cut at number 23.

Swift Soho came in at number 30, while hip Hackney bar, A bar with shapes for a name was the last of London's bars to make the list at 37.

Let's take a look at the bars below.

TayΔ“r + Elementary, Shoreditch - #2

First opening its doors in 2019, this unpretentious neighbourhood cocktail bar comes with cocktails on tap as well as own-label wine and beer.

It serves up riffs on classic concoctions, using seasonal and unusual ingredients (wasabi gimlet anyone?). Don't forget to try the bar signature tipple - the One Sip Martini.

Connaught Bar, Mayfair - #8

This bar is a treat for a special occasion, or for when you just get carried away with the evening.

In the plush elegance of the grand eponymous Mayfair hotel, the Connaught Bar's drinks are as flawless and classical as its interiors are.

A regular on awards lists, head here for sublime libations created with fair and style.

Satan’s Whiskers, Bethnal Green - #23

New to the World's 50 Best Bars List, this celebrated den of a cocktail bar on the border of Hackney and Tower Hamlets serves up fine cocktails and a little bit of east London grit.

It's always vibey and busy, and the hip hop playlist here is as much of a thing as the cocktails are. Enjoy.

Swift Soho - #30

Another well celebrated London bar, it's no surprise Swift is on the List either. A Soho staple and sprawled over two floors, upstairs you've got a cheery bar, while down the stairs a stylish drinking den awaits you.

Both levels are open seven days a week, but head down stairs when you're in the mood for live music at the weekends, or to make a dint in the 300 strong selection of whiskey. There's also a sister bar in Shoreditch.

A bar with shapes for a name -#37

Another new bar for the List, this Dalston bar is one of many that line Kingsland Road, so keep an eye out for it.

As the name suggests, the bar is signposted by shapes rather than words - how hipster. It's also styled really well - cute almost - and comes with bartenders in primary coloured overalls. No reservations.
