Lovers of gore and horror are in for a treat this Halloween with a special two-week festival celebrating the legendary independent British film company, Hammer.

Idea Generation are launching the fear-provoking Hammer Festival with an eclectic mix of film screenings, ghost tours and an exhibition featuring never before seen Hammer artwork, prints and photos.

The free exhibition at the Idea Generation Gallery on Chance Lane has been curated by Hammer expert Marcus Hearn and will be the back-bone of the festival.

Images and rare and original posters from Hammer's classic subjects and genres will be displayed, including Frankenstein, Dracula, The Living Dead and Hammer Glamour.

Hammer's renowned erotic period will provide the images from films such as Lust for a Vampire (1970), The Vampire Lovers (1970) and Slave Girls (1966).

Alongside these will be never-before seen photos of Sir Christopher Lee, Ursula Andress, Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Peter Cushing and Bette Davis.

Visitors will also be treated to exclusive images of upcoming Hammer releases, including Let Me In (written and directed by Cloverfield's Matt Reeves) and The Resident (starring double Oscar Winner Hillary Swank and Sir Christopher Lee).

Alongside the exhibition there will be ghost tours around East London starting and ending at Idea Generation Gallery, running tonight and tomorrow.

Classic horror films, such as Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, Dracula: Prince of Darkness and Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter will be shown at the Lexi Cinema in Kensal Rise and the Curzon in Soho.

The festival runs from now until November 15. For more information visit www.facebook.com/IdeaGenerationGallery.
