ROLL up, roll up, your trousers that is, as audiences are invited to literally dip their toes into a unique theatrical performance at the Arcola.

The intimate and condensed play, A Lament for Medea, will see a maximum of 20 audience members sit around a pool of water along with five female actors taking the roles of Medea, her maid and members of the chorus.

As witnesses to a terrible and brutal act which sees Medea murder her own children in the aftermath of the revelation of betrayal, the audience become drawn into the play as an integral part of it, the setting facilitating a sense of stillness.

Based upon the myth of Medea, who was shunned by her lover Jason after betraying her family to help him win the Golden Fleece, the show is performed by Zecora Ura and The Urban Dolls Project.

A Lament for Medea is showing until July 25 at the Arcola in Dalston.
