Jo Brand in for some fun-raising in Shoreditch—upstairs in the Bedroom
Comedienne Jo Brand is returning to London’s East End for a night of ‘fun’-raising upstairs in ‘the Bedroom’.
She appears top of the bill tomorrow night (Thurs) at the Bedroom Bar above the Comedy Caf� in Shoreditch in aid of Headway East London, the brain injury charity she’s patron of.
The evening of stand-ups has a supporting bill of Sarah Kendall, Pat Cahill and Alfie Brown, compared by David Morgan.
The charity takes over both floors of The Bedroom Bar, which includes the Comedy Caf�, from 8pm.
“Jo Brand has been our patron since 1999,” explained Headway’s Dean Harding. “So it is fitting she headlines this one-off event.”

The evening marks the 15th anniversary of Headway’s brain-injury recovery centre set up at the Mildmay Hospital behind Shoreditch Church, now moved to new premises next to the Regent’s Canal along Kingsland Road.
Brand is always ready to lend her weight to raise Headway’s profile. She compared a marathon dance evening at the Hoxton Hall two years ago (pictured) when enthusiasts battled through a gruelling eight hours of non-stop jive and jitterbug which netted �15,000.

But the full-figured comedienne, actress and writer didn’t join in because she said she was “afraid of losing too many calories”!
Jo is supported tonight by emerging talent from the comedy circuit like Sarah Kendall, who in 2004 became the first comedienne nominated for the Perrier Award in a decade as an “astute observational comic.” Sarah is again pushing the boundaries with her most political show to date.
Joining the line-up is surreal comedian and Radio 2 New Comedy Award finalist Pat Cahill, who has been called “a cross between Sean Lock and Eddie Izzard” by showbiz critics, and Alife Brown who has been described as “the future of British stand-up.”
