Marco digs the dirt on London land prices for Mile End Pavillion art show

A load of turf is about to go on public display in the East End—to show how expensive land is in London.

Artists from across the globe are exhibiting work at the Mile End Art Pavilion in the run-up to the Bank Holiday.

It includes 16,000sq yards of grass from Hampstead Heath put together by Marco Contino to highlight high land cost.

The 17 MA students from Middlesex University have spent six months on their artworks, using different mediums such as a hanging metal mobile structure created by Clare Walter, who was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Aesthetica Art Prize.

The international collection is being exhibited in the Pavilion from Thursday (May 2) to Sunday, 11am-7pm, free. Tube: Mile End (Central/District/Hammersmith & City lines)

The other artists are Mukkarram Ali, Bayad Ameen, Ranj-H Mohammed, Naz Hakim, Jung Won-Hur, Jaroslava Kadlecova, Lenka Kalafutova, Kani Kamil, Nanako Kawaguchi, Ghareman Maleki, Roya Modaresi, Margaret Moore, Juan Arenas and Mahrnoush Pishroyan.
