Comic book fans will descend on Shoreditch this month for a brand new festival celebrating comic artists from around the world.

The first ever East London Comics and Art Festival will play host to an array of international comic artists, from cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona.

The event aims to tap into the growing popularity of comics, and will include free comic sketching workshops, as well as live music from local bands. The festival’s co-founder, Alex Spiro, hopes the event will help the comic scene continue its remarkable growth in recent years.

He said: “The craftsmanship and artistry in the best graphic novels are on a par with the greatest art in museums and galleries worldwide – ELCAF will help these brilliant creators reach the audiences they deserve.”

The festival will be held on Sunday, June 17 between 10am and 6pm at the Village Underground in Holywell Lane, Shoreditch.
