As Wilton’s Music Hall enters the final stage of a long programme of repairs, a new show prepares to celebrate the wonders of mechanics.
A promenade piece based in the Wapping venue’s nooks and crannies, the show will combine theatre with installation, and is the last in the ‘Constructionism Season’ at Wilton’s.
‘Spinning Machines’ will see mechanical sculptures installed throughout the building to bring to life “the insanity of the holiday period”. It will include films, interactive objects and machines made from parts of the music hall found during the renovation process.
Visitors may also get the chance to have a sneak preview of the redeveloped auditorium – but note that much of the tour takes place upstairs, meaning there will be no wheelchair access.
The show starts at Wilton’s, in Graces Alley, on Wednesday January 9, and continues until Saturday, January 12. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.wiltons.org.uk.
