Open auditions believed to be for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII film are being held later this month in Cambridge Heath.

Casting company UKopencall posted a nationwide advert to Twitter on Monday, seeking two leads for a forthcoming film produced by Disney – the company that now owns Lucasfilm.

One requires a ‘beautiful, smart and athletic’ woman to play Rachel, an orphaned 17 to 18-year-old, while the other seeks a ‘handsome, smart and athletic’ man to portray Thomas, a ‘smart, capable’ 19 to 23-year-old.

The London set of auditions will take place on the 23rd and 24th November from 10am-2pm at Apiary Studios on Hackney Road.

Disney and the Tower Hamlets studio both declined to comment, but it is thought the characters have been given vague descriptions in an effort to disguise the auditions are for the next Star Wars film.

Although it is unusual for a franchise of such size to open auditions to anyone, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original three films, received his big break in similar fashion.

The nationwide selection process begins in Bristol on November 9th and will also visit Glasgow, Manchester and Dublin.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to begin shooting at Pinewood Studios in spring 2014, for an expected 2015 release.
