Haunting tours of East London’s subterranean cellars and alleyways are being put on to mark the 200th year since the birth of Charles Dickens.
The free torch-lit outings are to include ghost stories and promise to provide a unique insight into the dark side of Victorian London which had such an influence on Dickens’ writing
The setting, underneath Shoreditch Town Hall, will be transformed into a haunting representation of 19th century London by a team of more than 50 artists, prop-makers and performers.
Visitors will be given an insight into the historic secrets of Victorian London. Authors, historians, and paranormal experts will be on hand to provide information on the secrets hiding beneath the streets of East London.
The opening night, to be held on Thursday September 27, will feature stilit-walkers, live music, light shows and magicians. The tours will then be held daily, between 11am and 7pm, until October 4.
