A STAND-UP comedy night gives audiences the chance to laugh in the face of love as comedians give their own unique comedic take on Valentine's Day.

Comedy double-act The Sunday Defensive will headline the Pork & Pickle Pie Comedy Club's anti-Valentines stand-up spectacular at The Britannia in South Hackney tonight (Thursday).

As actors The Sunday Defensive have featured in Channel 4's Peep Show and The IT Crowd and are hotly tipped for stand-up success in 2010.

Earning rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, pair have gigged all over the UK and have more than five years of stand-up experience under their belts.

Lee Kern is an artist, writer, filmmaker and comedian. A former roving reporter on Big Brother's Little Brother, Lee now tackles the bigger issues of life, including war, racism, love and twiglets, as part of his burgeoning stand up career.

Loaded magazine headliner Lee Kern is supporting in what will be his second return to the Pork & Pickle Comedy Club, where he'll be introducing a special Valentines set for the sad and lonely.

Second support act Buddy Dolphin kicked off his stand-up career in style, reaching the finals of Hackney Empire's 'New Act of the Year' and 'So You Think You're Funny' awards. Fed up of watching alternative comedians becoming more mainstream than mainstream ones, he pioneered the 'Alternative Alternative' comedy movement. His work on television includes presenting on the Extreme Sports Channel and hiking 10,000 miles around the world in 2008 for National Geographic show The Adventurists, which will be airing later this year.

He also presented Shooting Britney for E4, in which he went to LA to stalk Britney Spears and in the process expose the underhand tactics of the paparazzi

The female comedic take on Valentine's Day is coming from Edinburgh Fringe star Holly Burn, who has appeared in three very successful one woman character comedy shows at the last three Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and gained rave reviews last summer, as well as one to watch Naomi Hefter who is a breakthrough act on London's comedy circuit this year following her television appearances in Skins and Casualty.

Comedy-goers pay just �5 for a ticket, which includes the stand-up performances and a slice of The Britannia's renowned pork and pickle pie.
