A project in which furniture is created from discarded materials has proved such a success that it is to be exhibited in Canary Wharf over the coming months.
The man behind the project, Sam Scott, sources materials such as table legs, kitchen tops and other offcuts in order to create innovative and stylish pieces of furniture.
He said: “The materials inform the designs and we often find ourselves playing large scale games of lego in the workshop with the mountains of off-cuts left from previous jobs. The results are surprisingly beautiful and functional.”
The works are to be exhibted together with those of ceramicist Carol McNicholl, as part of the Canary Wharf Group’s temporary exhibition programme entitled “Sculpture at Work”. The exhibiton will be put on in the lobby of One Canada Sqaure, and will run from September 24 to November 16.
